For ages, Native Americans made a tea out of Ledum leaves to help a range of ailments. Known as Greenland Moss, Ledum is an evergreen shrub that grows up to 5 feet in height. The plant is put through a steam distillation process to extract the oil which has a smoky, peppery aroma with hints of sweetness.
