Hyssop is sometimes called “holy herb,” and is diffused in sacred spaces – massage or meditation rooms - as part of purification. Although it is mentioned in the Bible, the reference may be tied to wild marjoram or oregano.
A gorgeous perennial evergreen shrub native to Southern Europe, the Middle East, and the region surrounding the Caspian Sea, Hyssop has a woody stem, small lance-shaped leaves and sprouts purplish-blue flowers. The entire plant is put through a steam distillation process to extract the essential oil.
This particular variety of Hyssop essential oil is unique – gentle and free of harsh constituents found in common Hyssopus officianalis. The honey-like, herbal aroma blends well with citrus oils and supports uplifting and invigorating qualities when mixed with Rosemary, mint or other herbaceous oils.
